Pre-Purim / Conference Room / For Men & Women/ The Sages of the Talmud declared that the Jews were coerced into accepting the Torah at Sinai – the mountain itself hung threateningly over their heads. But lest one think we were forced into this, the Sages remark that the Jews in Shushan accepted the Torah lovingly and willingly. Did the Sages read the same Purim story we do – a story of impending annihilation and destruction? What does accepting the Torah out of love have to do with Purim and how does it affect us today?
