Men’s Club

Welcome! The Men's Club has been a staple for “philanthropy” and “fun” for decades.
The Philanthropy is the crucial role we play for the shul and the community at large. We are the “go to” organization for helping individuals when the synagogue does not have the resources. If there is a financial need that is not in the budget for Beth Jacob, often the Men's Club has come to the rescue. When particular voids can not be filled with financial help, the Men's Club can assess human resources both in/out of our community and quickly get into action.

This is accomplished in two major ways. First, with private funds we grow through fund raisers and social events and second while keeping an active “brotherhood” we communicate fast and cast a large net when looking to provide needed resources.

Starting 2011, Men's Club has extended automatic membership to EVERY adult male member, both full member and associate affiliate. There are no dues or fees for the entire year.

If you have questions, please contact Josh Wittenberg, Men’s Club President, at 678-687-1772 or by email at: josh@askwitt.com

Sisterhood

Sisterhood has three main goals:

Chesed (Kindness): Sisterhood helps provide chesed support to families and individuals in need. For example, we provide meals, clothing, and transportation. We also provide Chesed through the Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund, in which Rabbi Feldman gives tzedakah (charity) on an “as need basis.”

Programming: We bring women together for fun, social, and Jewish learning programs. We have had a very successful Jewish holiday programming series that included both inspirational Divrei Torah from our Rebbitzens combined with a craft or cooking activity.

Fundraising: Sisterhood raises money to help areas of the shul that are in need, and whose needs cannot be met by the annual shul budget. Examples include: decorating the bride’s preparation room, repairing siddurim (prayer books), updating the office computers, and financially supporting the preschool and NCSY (Teen Programming), Chesed, and the Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund. We also sponsor two Shabbat Kiddushes each year. Our two annual fundraising events are the Donor Telethon and the “Silver Tea” event that focuses on Chesed.

Sisterhood Membership
Sisterhood membership is $25 per year. First year brides and first year new members are free. Life Membership is $250. The yearly dues cycle runs from September 1 through August 31. Membership benefits include: lower programming fees, 10% discount in the Sisterhood gift shop, Sisterhood e-mails, meeting and socializing with the women of Beth Jacob, and leadership/chesed opportunities.

Cemetery Guardians

Cemetery Guardians operates as a separate entity within Congregation Beth Jacob. For your convenience we have a prepared booklet that explains in great detail the workings of the Guardians, the information on the Cemeteries, and the religious and civic laws and regarding cemeteries. There are many intricate religious and civil laws that govern an Orthodox Jewish cemetery and interment within them. This booklet addresses many of these issues. The Beth Jacob Rabbi is the final authority regarding all religious matters.
Items covered in the Cemetery Book:

  • Halachic Practices
  • Plot ownership and prices
  • Monument and marker practices
  • Floral policies

Beth Jacob has two cemetery locations that we take care of:

  • Green Wood Cemetery: all sites are either in use or reserved for family. There are no spaces for general use or sale
  • Crest Lawn Cemetery: It is an active site and there is an availability of sites.

We hope that you will find the booklet very useful. You can contact the Beth Jacob office at (404) 633-0551 to have a booklet mailed to you or come by to pick one up.
