Tanach in a Year

Learn the major themes, stories and ideas of the entire 24 books of the Torah in just one year!   


Course Highlights:

Based on a carefully crafted curriculum developed at the London School of Jewish Studies together with internationally acclaimed Bible scholar Rabbi Menachem Leibtag, the course has a high level of quality and content while being menaingful for both the seasoned student and newcomer to Jewish learning.

Each weekly session covers one book of the Tananch in an hour and a half, and is accompanied by class outline, chapter summaries, and relevant maps and chartst.  Classes involves studying traiditonal textsa (available in Hebrew and English), investigation of key themes, and presentation of avenues for futher study.  Important academic issues are raised during sessions such as authorship, dating and archaelogy.  Classes are recorded on CD.

Outstanding Teachers

We are excited to offer a wide ranging slate of noted educators to present each individual class.  Beth Jacob's own Rabbis Ilan D. feldman, Yechezkel Freundlich and Rabbi Emanuel Feldman;.  Atlanta Scholars Kolel Rabbi Doniel Pransky, David Silverman and Binyomin Friedman;  and local GHA principal Rabbi Lee Buckman;  Torah Day School head of school Rabbi Naphtali Hoff and Emory professor Rabbi Michael Berger.  Rabbi Menachem Leibtag, co-founder of the program, will present on November 7.

Course Fee and Registration

The course fee for all 29 classes, for those who register by September 26,  is $100 for Beth Jacob members, $150 for non-members, and $75 for stuents.  After September 26, add $25 for the series.  Individual classes are $36.

Time and Location

Monday nights, beginning October 24 (the first Monday after Sukkos).  The 29 session course will conlcude on Monday, May 28 (the second day of Shavuos) with a gala siyum and celebration.  All classes will begin promptly at 7:45pm and end at approximately 9:15pm.

Tanach Tour to Israel
